Yikes!

So it looks like we're in for a long weekend here in Springfield! The text of the official storm warning from the weather service makes it sound like the apocalypse is upon us - treachorous if not impossible road conditions, widespread power outages, 3 (yes, 3) inches of ice possible, etc, etc. At one point this afternoon the weather service was actually advising people, and I quote, to make your final preparations. Their website doesn't say that anymore so perhaps someone realized that advisory verged on sensationalism.
I'm not a big fan of weather people. Their profession's one purpose is to forecast the weather - and they are never, ever right! I think the most annoying thing about them however is how excited they seem to get about severe weather. There is nothing pleasant about severe weather, be it a tornado or an ice storm, yet time after time, I watch weather people practically giddy when they talk about the storm of the century that is upon us.
Well, I'm going to hope for a nice long weekend at home curled up on the couch reading and knitting. Hopefully our fireplace won't flood (as it is prone to do) and our power will stay on and we can just relax and have a good excuse to be lazy.
