Loose ends...

Look at this mess!! (No, I am not referring to the corgi guarding the yarn - although she is definitely a mess.  She is also a camera hog as you can tell by this picture.)  This is my first attempt at color work in my knitting.  A dear friend of mine is having a baby this summer and I figured that if the amount of time invested in her knitted baby gift was to correlate to the years we have been friends, it would have to be something pretty fantastic.  I am actually very pleased with how this project is starting out and pleasantly surprised at how easy the intarsia has been thus far.  I've always been really scared of using this much color, but this pattern was so incredibly cute that I couldn't resist.  The only negative thus far is the unbelievable mess my yarn is in.  I quickly discovered that attempting to untangle the mess as I go is a futile exercise and as long as I can still manage to complete a stitch I should just forge ahead.  It took a while to convince my obsessive-compulsive self that this would be okay, but I think I've worked through it now and am on my way!  I don't even want to think about weaving in the ends....
